Your Story – His Glory
In a world without newspapers, TV, magazines, radio, the Internet, blogs, or podcasts, an estimated 25% of the Roman Empire were Christians by the end of the third century. Yet Christians were mocked, ridiculed, sometimes martyred, and often run out of town with their property confiscated. How could a faith that society scorned become so powerful?
Because, through the power and leading of the Holy Spirit, they lived in a way that reflected the love and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. They adopted the unwanted; they cared for their own sick and the abandoned sick of pagans; they were gracious to their enemies and raised their children to know, love, and obey Christ Jesus.
An honest look at our society reveals a people bitterly divided, splitting into tribes with mounting hostility. When this is the societal norm, it is very seductive for Christians to start communicating the same way. Yet this behavior won’t bring anyone to Christ. Instead, it drives people away from Christ.
This book illuminates the pattern of missional living practiced in the early church. It will encourage its readers to engage their communities as they put Christ first in their lives. It will help to build bridges, not barriers.
